Illuminated Manuscript

Project: Research and create a manuscript based off of the Illuminated Manuscripts.

Information: The provided text was from the book, The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. The selected time period of focus is between 600-700. The goal is to focus on illuminated manuscripts that were done in gold leaf. The way the pages would reflect the light and bring the reader in brought interest them. As well as the ornate detail in the initial letters. During this time period, the fear of the void in design was very important. Pieces started to move away from this fear of black space yet still remained very detailed. This piece reflects that movement.
